If you missed it, Private Sanctuary Pt. 1 can be found here.
The patio and softscaping for this property tie into the natural, contemporary flair of the deck and pergola.
We installed Barkman Bridgewood pavers for the patio. These are pre-cast, concrete slabs with a natural wood texture, which means they last much longer than ordinary lumber!
Another great element of this patio is the custom, natural gas fire pit. A new gas service line was installed before other infrastructure was constructed. Bricks were then custom cut to fit the natural gas burner.
To make the backyard as low-maintenance as possible, the remainder of the yard was covered with chocolate-coloured mulch. Black granite stones were used to border the parts of the mulch garden that were in contact with the deck and fence to prevent any excess moisture from being absorbed by the wooden posts.
Native plant species were the best choice for this project, as they reflected the desired aesthetic and are inherently low-maintenance. The plant palette included: Purple Oat Grass, Little Bluestem, Big Bluestem, Switchgrass, Giant Wild Rye, and Swamp Milkweed. Our client was very happy with the finished product. We are proud to have created a beautiful, one-of-a-kind landscape in the heart of Charleswood. This high-quality project was the result of great vision, teamwork, and excellent project management!
